Sudden loss of power and black smoke from my diesel. WTF!? I connected scan tool and get dtcs. OK I will disconnect a MAF and buy new MAF some other day. Well I wasn’t that lucky, same issues. Time to use tow service again. After a while car didn’t even want to start, that was total shock. I have 210 000 kms on my “reliable” BMW. I guess I won’t buy another BMW soon. German cars are just a pile of shit nowadays, Scotty Kilmer is right!
Readings was that car doesn’t get enough air, I removed pain in the ass solution DPF and still no power. Of course DPF was full of soot. Pressure at high rpm was 600mbar, 250 is normal, but this didn’t solve the issue. Dirty diesel.
So I removed intake, of course again full of soot and I clean it ones a year. So I found soot everywhere. EGR stucked, flap didn’t move smoothly. Shocking amount of soot in my intake valves.
I also removed timing cover, because I was in doubt to remove cylinder head from the car, that would bring me more work and at least 130 eur of costs for parts. Found 2 injectors seals were bad. I spent 1 hour to get one injector out. If i run test all injectors are in tolerances in ISTA. I removed glow plugs to check compression of the motor.
After cleaning it all shit from ECO egr dpf diesel I used 4 EGR soot cleaners! A lot of brake cleaner and a lot of soap for cleaning my hands. BMW nightmare. BMW will save a planet and make your family starve to death.
And reasamble this BMW M47N2 masterpiece back and car runs now smoothly, for now 🙂
Things I did:
– replaced injector seals
– replaced valve cover gasket
– checked turbo
-cleaned MAF and MAP sensors
-cleaned intake and replaced seals
-repaired flap
– cleaned and checked EGR
– checked all injectors
-checked engine compression
A lot of work. Final conclusion is that must be sticky valve because of the soot. I’ve seen some needed to remove the cylinder head.
Just imagine, how it can be eco friendly car if it doesn’t get enough air for perfect combustion? In that time car poluttes more than diesel without dpf and egr valve. And all chemicals needed for cleaning that shit. Very environmently friendly. All they care is money!
