Polaris 2021 Sporstman 570 pros and cons

Posted: 31st March 2021 by Wild Man in ATV, Start

After 1 month of ownership of my sportsman 570, I want to expose pros and cons of this machine. It rides great, but not everything is great. I will write honest review! Lets start with pros:

Pros:

  • great ride and position
  • simple dash, place for extra switches, battery tender..
  • good brakes
  • great suspension
  • front storage, I love it
  • great engine power
  • ground clearance
  • LED lights
  • comfortable for 2 passengers
  • some additional wiring already installed
  • great protection of legs
  • mean look
  • easy radiator cleaning
  • easy to operate without EPS
  • no need to grease bearings, joints…
  • simple AWD to operate
  • ride and lock system
  • place where you can mount a flag 🙂

Cons:

  • engine ECU problems from day 1, nothing critical, just anoying lights
  • steel wheels, no aluminum wheels on base
  • base model has no real protection (brush guards)
  • engine is running hot, fan is working a lot, I mean a lot and it is normal!
  • no rear storage and it is space under it! (2021 exclusive)
  • no arm protection, removed on 2021
  • no extra lock for thiefs, cant lock a handlebar or shifter…
  • missing bracket for winch or brush guard holder
  • front LEDS are not as good as they could be, also not aligned from factory
  • wiring routing, could be better, cause it is mud machine not a street bike
  • coolant bottle is in strange place and not protected
  • seat with no actual latch! also some cheap plastic used to hold seat in place
  • front rack is very useful, but not quality made, should have better hinges and seal better
  • switches on a dash are not standard and they cost a 40 bucks for a 3 dollar switch
  • I like rear rack , but I wish it would have more steel under it to support it.
  • aligment of a plastics
  • CVT belt vent on some, but my 2021 has an old type, strange 🙂

I know it is 2021 and all companies are reducing a costs, but build quality is falling on all things. All are mostly made in china or other places with cheap labour. Compared to 2007 Sym 300 from Taiwan (sym built a can am ds 250 and yamaha 300) sym actually looks more reliable. Looks more like a real off road machine, it has also survived a lot. I checked competition like can am or cf moto.

They all have the same issues. I’d go with Honda or Yamaha, but this is completlly a different price range and less power. I doubt that new atvs are having same reliability as previous models. Saving planet, electronics and cost cutting have impact on machines. I also think that new atvs are too flashy , automotive lights, screens and plastics for the mud, rocks and real off road. All flashy brand are selling their brackets, winches and addons for a lot of money.

I like the look and everything about a ride on Polaris. For me front storage is real added value. It is real working machine and also fun trail ride. It has enough power, great consumption and comfort. I won’t put any lift kits or submarine add ons on. For sure I will add skid plates, front and rear brush guards, and full body protection. I won’t even ride it a lot without it. I will also add winch, light bar, heated grips, hand guards and rear storage box (missing in 2021), and storage box on rear rack. But I know I had to modify all branded atvs, even CF moto would need some mods. I will made them not buy them from dealers or Polaris.

Thank you for your review. I am on the fence about getting the sporstman 570.
Im also looking at the king quad 500

  2. Jeff R. says:

I have the 2021 Polaris 570 Sportsman, in fact TWO of them, bought as a father and son time sharing tool. With 23.9 miles on the one, ECM failure. Will not start. The dealer said they are trying to work with Polaris to have the ECM replaced under warranty. GET THAT…. 23.9 miles, a full 4 year warranty and there has to be a consideration for warranty on a 23 mile machine. BEST TO YOU ALL!

That is said. I thik Polaris is putting more in marketing than in a product. I’m thinkin that my next atv will be cf moto. I hope you will fix your bike under a warranty.
